Bob Develin, also known as the Investigator, was the Deputy Scientific Controller of Universal Engineering Incorporated.

Early life[[edit] | [edit source]]

Bob Develin was born in Sydney, Australia in 2022, with his father being Professor James Develin. He was educated at Geelong Grammar School, and won a scholarship to Cambridge, where he got degrees in Space engineering, computer mechanics, and physics.

In 2047, Develin joined Universal Engineering Incorporated as their Deputy Scientific Controller, before soon becoming a company director and "experimental overlord". During his time here, he became known as "the Investigator" and earned a reputation as the U.E.I.'s trouble-shooter. Develin's job was to iron out problems on U.E.I. products, such as a Fireflash airliner crashing, or installing atomic power stations on Saturn.
