Individuals who claimed to be the Doctor but didn't look like them were not necessarily enemies of the Doctor. Sometimes, as with Rory Williams or Jackson Lake, it was possible for people to pretend to be the Doctor for completely benign reasons.
People in this category may be compared with look alikes of the Doctor, who actually did look like the Doctor, and with individuals who took on the name of the Doctor, who took on the name and ethos of "the Doctor" as more than an impersonation of the Time Lord most famous under that name.
