Chief (The Assassination Threat)
In 2066, the Chief of the Bereznik Secret Service plotted to assassinate the World Government Defence Minister while he was visiting the French President.
The Chief selected agent Hermutt Clinger for the assignment who ultimately failed thanks to the efforts of Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward, Parker and Roger Lyon. Once Clinger reached his car again, he contacted the Chief and told him of the mission's events. The Chief was displeased but told Clinger to secure a photograph of the woman for identification and then "take care" of them. Clinger succeeded in transmitting the photograph and seriously wounding Penelope, but was himself fatally shot by Roger. The Chief's aide showed him a fabricated newspaper article from Universal News which claimed the woman who stopped their plans was dead, though it also noted she was very similar in appearance to a titled English lady. Uninterested in Penelope, the Chief told his aide to make sure the woman was dead and after he reported back, having witnessed a coffin emerging from the Reinstat Clinic as well as finding her death certificate, the Chief closed the file they had on her, marking her deceased with a stamp.
