The Compound was an aspect of the Enemy. Both living inside a compound and being in a sense a gestalt organism, the name was fitting. As memory was seen by them as inherently flawed and corruptible - both biological or memory in the form of computer memory, multiple members of their race would leave their compound at any one time so as to compensate for this defect, constantly voting on what the memory of the experience was to be. Indeed, when one member of the race was isolated, due to a mission to destroy Hitchbot, it was easily deceived by Faction Paradox into leading others back to the compound. (PROSE: Houses of Cards)
