Dalaza

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Dalaza (PROSE: Stingray Attacked!) was the Dalek capital city until the explosion of several neutron bombs devastated Skaro, resulting in the near-extinction of the original Daleks and the eventual emergence of a new race of Dalek mutants.

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

In 2003, (COMIC: The Dalek Tapes) or thousands of years prior to the 2060s, Dalek War Minister Zolfian assassinated the pacifist ruler Drenz over his refusal to go to war with the Thals. With Drenz's death, Zolfian stepped up the war effort, constructing several neutron bombs. However, a meteorite shower soon struck the continent of Darren, with the resulting fires at the bomb stores causing their inadvertent detonation.

For two years, nothing stirred on Skaro as the radioactive dust from the bombs settled on the land and the oceans or drifted into the upper atmosphere. At this time, Zolfian and the scientist Yarvelling, left the War Council chamber in Darren, which had protected them from the radiation, incorrectly believing the radioactivity to have sufficently subsided. They made their way to the continent of Dalazar to distance themselves from the centre of the blast's effects where they observed their capital to be in ruins. Following a search across Darren and Dalazar for other surviving Daleks, Yarvelling and Zolfian returned to the capital's remnants and built themselves a small shelter with their remaining strength, having both contracted radiation sickness as they wandered.

Yarvelling and Zolfian return to Dalaza, only to find it utterly annihilated. (COMIC: Genesis of Evil)

Suddenly, the shack exploded and the two Daleks were surprised to discover one of Yarvelling's War Machines as the perpetrator. It explained the radiation had caused the Daleks to mutate and that he had climbed into the machine designed by Yarvelling. The new Dalek ordered Yarvelling and Zolfian to create more machines before they perished. They did so, racing against time to rebuild the war factory and construct a special casing for the Dalek they had encountered, who proclaimed himself Emperor, before they finally died. (COMIC: Genesis of Evil) The work continued without them and, over a period of two months, the new race of Daleks constructed their own Dalek City on the foundations of Dalaza. (COMIC: Power Play)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

The Dalek capital city was not named in Genesis of Evil, only being identified as Dalaza in the accompanying TV Century 21 cover story Stingray Attacked!.
