Darren (Incoming Transmission - February Update Video)
Sergeant Darren was 2020s UNIT employee.
He was originally a friend of Sasha and, like him, an associate of UNIT without being directly employed by them. In November 2023, Sasha and Darren were both overtaken by the Entity and hurled through time and space. Darren ended up in 2053, and, although he found this era "amazing", was stuck living on the streets until the future version of UNIT found him "eating a tin of fish fingers and custard". They formally recruited him, with him eventually attaining the rank of Sergeant, and managed to send him back to his native era.
There, in February 2024, he received a video transmission from Sasha, who it turned out had landed in the Dark Times but managed to find comms equipment aboard the ship where she had been taken prisoner. With the help of data she transmitted across time, Darren was able to use the UNIT visual interface to identify her location — namely on a Great Vampire coffin ship. This allowed UNIT to send in "reinforcements" in the form of the Doctor, who got to Sasha just in the nick of time and brought her safely back to UNIT HQ. Darren subsequently made a report to Commander Dave on the "Sasha situation". Darren was portrayed by, and takes his name from, Darren Fitzjohn, one of the creators of the Worlds Apart video game to which the webcast served as a tie-in.
