Christmas on the TARDIS (webcast)
Christmas on the TARDIS was the third release in the Festive Holiday Yule Log genre. This was a video design to leave playing in the background of the viewer's life in order to set a festive mood.
It didn't feature Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, but instead a body double only seen from behind. John Barrowman, Mandip Gill, Tosin Cole, Bradley Walsh and Chris Noth all feature via archive imagery.
It was the first of two Christmas webcasts released in 2018 tying into Series 11 with the second being the mini-episode 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.
Synopsis[[edit] | [edit source]]
Give your holiday season some cozy Doctor Who cheer with a crackling fire, some biscuits, and a few Thirteenth Doctor surprises! Can you spot all the hidden festive secrets?
Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Doctor walks into a roaring open fire in her TARDIS and holds her hands out to be warmed by the flame. The focus is then on the fire place which had a train track circling it and was decorated with stockings and ornaments. A train designed like the TARDIS materialises and dematerialises around the track. Additionally a miniature TARDIS is parked on the train.
As the fire roars a hologram of Captain Jack Harkness appears in the TARDIS. He is posing with his gun at the ready. After the fire roars some more the Doctor returns and throws her coat onto a hook. She stands admiring the fire and taking in its warmth. She then walks off deeper into the ship.
The TARDIS train continues to circle as the Doctor returns. She then pulls out her sonic screwdriver and then uses it. As she does snow begins to pour in the TARDIS. She then celebrates though it gives the Doctor a chill so she reaches for her coat and wears it again. She then departs.
As the fire roars some more the TARDIS interior, currently with the Thirteenth Doctor's usual desktop theme, glitches into the Fugitive Doctor's TARDIS interior. Her TARDIS was silver and blue with roundels galore. The Christmas tree in that TARDIS had mini TARDIS consoles as baubles. Every other roundel now donned a wreath. Snow poured beyond the roundels. The TARDIS then faded back into the Thirteenth Doctor's usual interior theme again.
Later a hologram of Yasmin Khan appears before fading away and our focus moves back to the roaring fire. Then a small TARDIS materialises and out comes a living clockwork version of the Thirteenth Doctor. She looks around her counterpart's TARDIS before dematerialising away. A hologram of Ryan Sinclair appeared not long after. The hologram stood still and motionless. Not long after holograms of Graham O'Brien and Jack Robertson appeared. Then the fire continued from there on.

Story notes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- As with Festive Thirteenth Doctor Yule Log the previous year, the full webcast lasted over an hour, with the intent (as stated in the description) that viewers be able to relax in a festive mood alongside the Doctor herself in real time. As such, the word "log" in the title takes a double meaning, both as the burning log in the chimney, and as the video itself being a filmed "log" of the Doctor's activities.
- The webcast was released on the BBC America YouTube channel, rather than on the main Doctor Who one.
- The soundtrack was released on Spotify.
- The TARDIS snowglobe from TARDIS Yule Log is seen.
