Doctor Why
"Doctor Why" was the chosen alias of an eccentric time traveller who worked with, but did not recognise the authority of, the Brigadier. Doctor Why, whose name often caused great grammatical confusion to people trying to talk to him, was not a Time Lord, although he did travel aboard a TARDIS; indeed, the Time Lords were known to the Brigadier as hostile aliens who might attempt to oppose the Doctor, on an equal footing with the Cybermen.
Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]
Doctor Why travelled to Gigantus on several occasions; the Colossus Chicken of Gigantus became one of his archenemies.
"Many years" later, after having made the acquaintances of Sarah Jane and the Brigadier, he was reprimanded by the two of them, on behalf of Home Office, for parking his TARDIS in ill-chosen places in London, such as the throne room of Buckingham Palace or the top of the Post Office Tower. By then, Doctor Why had a permanent resident in his timeship in the form of the mentally-disturbed Dalek Doreen, whom he kept around as a sort of pet.
Finally persuaded by his human friends to move the TARDIS, Doctor Why first landed them in other parts of London (such as the fish market or Wembley Stadium) before finally deciding to set the coordinates for Gigantus, where he hadn't been in many years. Once there, they almost immediately bumped into the Colossus Chicken, whom the Doctor urged his travelling companions not to displease, what with her being right outside the doors of the ship. Unexpectedly, the Chicken laid a gigantic egg which rolled into the TARDIS, at which point, trying to get rid of it, Doctor Why discovered that the metal-eating Doreen had eaten through the lift, leaving only an empty shaft. Psychological profile[[edit] | [edit source]]
Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]
Doctor Why was eccentric in the extreme, notably continuing to knit more of the extravagantly long scarf he wore even as he walked through his timeship. His grinning demeanour could, at a moment's notice, make way for abrasive shouts, especially if people kept walking on the trailing end of his scarf and thereby risking the risk of strangling him. He also displayed quiet contempt at even his closest associates, muttering behind the Brigadier's back that "the man [was] a buffoon". Skills[[edit] | [edit source]]
Aside from demonstrating a certain knowledge of the universe and the ability to pilot his TARDIS with relative accuracy, Doctor Why boasted of being "an electronics genius". (TV: Hallo My Dalek [+]Loading...["Hallo My Dalek (TV story)","Hallo My Dalek"])
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Doctor Why was an obvious parody of Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor.
