Exley St Michael's was a village in South Devon.

In 1855, Exley St Michael's had two pubs: the Blue Boar and the Wild Hunt, at least the latter of which was still in business in the 1970s and run by Olive Plymtree.
Hexworthy Hall was the residence of the squire and the vicarage was home to the vicar, who were Sir Basil Hexworthy and Monty Woolsgrove respectively in 1855. (AUDIO: The Devil's Hoofprints)

By February 1855, Sir Basil Hexworthy allowed Thrayne to take up residence at Hexworthy Hall and assisted him in hunting the Icewalker in return for a Cyntheron rifle. The Third Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith, teaming up with Sir Basil, Monty Woolsgrove and Mrs Plymtree, saved the Icewalker and directed it to take up residence at what became known as Dewer Tor.
Thrayne, as Mr Chilton, went on to found the Dewer Tor Superconductivity Lab nearby in the 1970s in an attempt to attract the Icewalker, but his plan was foiled by the Doctor, Sarah and Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart and he was arrested. The lab was shut down, which the Brigadier had to explain to the Minister. (AUDIO: The Devil's Hoofprints)
