Force field generator (The Three Doctors)

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

The force field generator was a removable red box at the centre of the Third Doctor's TARDIS console, which protected the TARDIS with a force field when it was activated by the console's controls. (TV: The Three Doctors [+]Loading...["The Three Doctors (TV story)"])

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

During the First Omega Crisis, the Third Doctor and Second Doctor used the TARDIS force field to stop the anti-matter organism from bringing the TARDIS into the anti-matter universe. During the Second Doctor's time in the control room, the Doctor's recorder fell into the console and on top of the force field generator. When the Doctor turned off the force field and the TARDIS was translated into the anti-matter universe, the recorder was protected by the force field generator and remained normal matter highly reactive to anti-matter. The Doctors later opened the base of the console and discovered what had happened when they saw the generator. They brought it to Omega's palace and, after their allies were safely back in the matter universe, threatened Omega with it. Omega knocked over the generator, making the recorder touch anti-matter and thus causing a huge explosion which disrupted Omega's control and ended the crisis. The Third Doctor told Jo Grant that he would need to make a new force field generator before he could fly the TARDIS. (TV: The Three Doctors [+]Loading...["The Three Doctors (TV story)"])

The generator, complete with the Doctor's recorder, was among the items in the Remembered TARDIS, resting on top of a panel from the Eleventh Doctor's first TARDIS console. Its buttons could be used alongside the ship's consoles to input commands to the ship. (TV: Earthshock [+]Loading...["Earthshock (TotT TV story)"])
