GP was a commenter on the Into The Unknown blog in early 2021. Their grandmother, who had worked as a secretary for Winston Churchill between 1940 and 1945, told GP stories of strange uncrewed "tanks" which Churchill called his "Ironsides", as well as appearances of a large blue box which she compared to an oversized wardrobe that used to materialize in the corridors near the Prime Minister's office, and the strangers whose appearances coincided with the box.

GP read a feature by new Into The Unknown proprietor Maxwell Grey on the Mandela Effect, which mentioned historian RV Singh's writings on the Ironside project. When Grey later republished an article from the original iteration of the blog entitled Alabama's Blue Box about the mysterious appearance of an anachronistic British police box in Alabama, GP realized there might be a connection between the Ironsides from the earlier article and inexplicable police box appearances. GP posted a comment about the links, asking if any other readers had information to support their grandmother's recollections and any information about the strangers who appeared alongside the box.
