Hamish was an elderly resident of Falkirk, Scotland by 2018, having some mysterious history with Archie MacTavish, a P.R.O.B.E. agent who was native to the town.

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

In his youth, Hamish survived a Kelpie attack which claimed nine of his friends. Living on a house at the edge of the town, just next to the stream where the creature had been known to manifest, he spent the subsequent decades worrying that the creature or something like it would one day return, although the townsfolk never believed him. He was eventually proven right in 2018 when a Kelpie claimed six victims. Though Hamish's claims were still disbelieved, they were reported upon in the papers, which attracted the attention of P.R.O.B.E.. P.R.O.B.E. director Giles travelled up to Falkirk with Archie, who introduced him to Hamish, being familiar with his history, though neither Archie nor Hamish elaborated to Giles on whatever their shared background was.

The three then went to the stream, where the Kelpie soon manifested and attempted to drown Giles. Hamish rushed in to save him, tearing the creature's silver necklace from its neck and throwing it to the side; Giles got away in the commotion while Hamish himself was pulled into the water. Archie was able to use the necklace to compel the creature to release Hamish and leave Falkirk, as intended. However, it was already too late for Hamish, who suffered a heart attack due to the stress and prolonged lack of air. Archie stayed in Falkirk for the funeral while Giles drove back to London, at Archie's own request. (HOMEVID: Kelpie [+]Loading...["Kelpie (home video)"])
