Kelpie
Kelpies were elemental water spirits known in Scottish folklore.
Nature[[edit] | [edit source]]
Kelpies were shape-shifting flesh-eaters. They primarily appeared as ethereal horses made of solid water, who would entrance people into touching their mane and then drown them within their own watery body before consuming them. However, they could reshape themselves into other forms, such as an unearthly, beautiful woman made of water. (HOMEVID: Kelpie [+]Loading...["Kelpie (home video)"])
History[[edit] | [edit source]]
Hamish, an elderly resident of Falkirk, Scotland by 2018, had survived a Kelpie attack in his youth, losing nine of his friends to the creature.
Years later, a Kelpie began to hunt in Falkirk again, drowning six people. Having noticed reports of it in the papers, P.R.O.B.E. intervened, including Falkirk native Archie MacTavish, who had a history with Hamish. Archie and Giles went with Hamish to the stream where the Kelpie was known to manifest; Giles narrowly avoided being drowned by the Kelpie when Hamish sacrificed himself to tear from it its silver necklace. Picking it up, Archie was able to command the Kelpie to release Hamish and leave Falkirk, although it was too late for the old man, whose heart had already given out.
