In or around 1190, a herald offered an arrow made of pure gold to whichever person proved to be the finest archer in England in an archery contest. He handed the arrow to the Twelfth Doctor after he pierced both Robin Hood and the Sheriff of Nottingham's arrows with his own. The Doctor threw it away, seeing it as "a mere bauble". The herald was later killed during the attack of the robot knights on the castle. The golden arrow was retrieved and used to defeat these knights. (TV: Robot of Sherwood)
