Honolulu was a port in the Pacific. (PROSE: The Eye of the Giant [+]Loading...["The Eye of the Giant (novel)"])

In the 1890s, it was an idyllic tourist destination for those wealthy enough to afford the trip there. The Canadian Pacific Railway offered a trip there aboard their Canadian-Australian Steamers. Destinations on the trip also included New Zealand and Australia. It sailed from Vancouver on 20 July. An advert for the trip appeared in an 1890s copy of The Times. On 7 December 1941, a large fleet of Japanese Zero aircraft flew over Honolulu as they attacked Pearl Harbor. (PROSE: Only Connect [+]Loading...["Only Connect (short story)"])

In 1982, as Tegan Jovanka prepared to catch a flight to Sydney, Australia from Heathrow Airport, the departure board listed other flights to Honolulu. (PROSE: Time-Flight [+]Loading...["Time-Flight (novelisation)"])

Though it's possible that a real world location doesn't exist in the same geographic space in the Doctor Who universe, such cases are few and far between. Thus, the map to the right is probably a good indicator of the DWU location of Honolulu.

The Eye of the Giant fails to define Honolulu further than this, but for ease of discovery, we place it in a category based upon its real word status as a United States city.
