Invasion of Gallifrey (Doctor Who - The Ninth Doctor)

In a possible future for the Eighth Doctor, (PROSE: The Tomorrow Windows [+]Loading...["The Tomorrow Windows (novel)"]) the planet Gallifrey was invaded by an alien race.

By that point, the Ninth Doctor had retired to live with the woman he loved, the daughter of the Lord President. The aliens killed most of the Time Lords, whom retreated into the Matrix, whilst the Doctor's love was "truly dead". The Doctor "[sent] the aliens packing" with the help of the Master, with the Master's final physical body being destroyed in the process. The Doctor used Matrix technology to store the Master in a robot made out of TARDIS materials. From inside the Matrix, the Time Lords used their power to send the Doctor off to sort the most dangerous problems in the universe.
