Professor Ivanov was an Earth Empire scientist with degrees in fusion engineering, cybernetic control systems and astrophysics. He went down to Avalon to investigate the planet with Shannon, Vincent Monadno and Jen Komati. When Merlin's Helm was discovered, he impulsively put it on and moved a mountain.
