John Crockett
John Crockett (born John Angus Basil Crockett on 31 January 1918 in Hampshire[1], died 11 October 1986[2]) directed "The Wall of Lies", the fourth episode of the Doctor Who television story Marco Polo. He also directed all four parts of The Aztecs.

After studying art at Goldsmith's College, Crockett became an actor and director, founding the Compass Players in 1944. The touring company often performed at churches and school halls before closing in 1952. Crockett's brief television directing career saw him helm episodes of Suspense (1963) and Compact (1964). He later taught at Downside School, a Roman Catholic school near Bath from 1969-76. (INFO: "The Warriors of Death")

He enjoyed his experience on historical Doctor Who episodes so much that he submitted story ideas to story editor David Whitaker. Though it's unclear whether his suggestions prompted any production, many of his ideas were in fact produced — mostly during the Hartnell era.
