Jonathan was a muscular young man with brown hair and dimples.

In or slightly before 2019, he became involved with Beltane, a pagan terrorist group who wanted to use the Ogden Farm sample to unleash a "sacred fire" that would destroy London, or possibly the entire world, to cleanse it of a vaguely-defined evil. Learning that the sample was being kept at Modernex Labs, various members of Beltane tried to get close to people employed by Modernex to find a way in. In Jonathan's case, he befriended lab assistant Harriet King, who happened to be the niece of P.R.O.B.E. director Giles, meeting her every evening after work at a coffee shop.

Discovering his niece's boyfriend's association with Beltane, Giles tried to get Harriet to tell him anything she knew about Jonathan's activity. Walking in on Harriet talking with Giles, Jonathan fled, contacting three other Beltane members and summoning them to Modernex. They were followed by Giles, Harriet, and two other P.R.O.B.E. operatives, Tasha and Bedevere. In a shootout sparked by Bedevere, the three other Bedevere members were killed, but Jonathan managed to secure the Ogden Farm sample and flee to the roof. However, he was unable to ignite it due to the heavy rain, and Harriet managed to talk him down, getting him to admit that he had come to genuinely care about her, and to realise how callous and mad Beltane's plans really were. He turned himself in to the authorities, with Giles putting in a good word in his capacity as P.R.O.B.E. director to ensure he would not serve much time. (AUDIO: Broken Bonds)
