Pachyderm roboform

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Pachyderm roboforms were robot forms which originated in the Loxodon nebula, and which strongly resembled Earth elephants.

As the Ninth Doctor recalled, around 200 BC, (AUDIO: Ancient History [+]Loading...["Ancient History (audio story)"]) the Doctor accompanied Hannibal as he crossed the Alps (PROSE: Shadowmind [+]Loading...["Shadowmind (novel)"]) with several pachyderm roboforms, which the Doctor told Hannibal were regular elephants, alongside 10 children and a nun. He wanted to avoid awkward questions. (AUDIO: Ancient History [+]Loading...["Ancient History (audio story)"])

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

In the real world, "pachyderm" is an obsolete order of mammals which once included elephants, rhinoceroses and hippopotamuses. It comes from the Latin pachydermus, which refers to "thick skin".

Loxodonta is the genus for African elephants.
