The RAF Finningley Airshow on 18 September 1965 contained "a piece of fiction" featuring the Daleks as well as an appearance by William Hartnell as the Doctor. The event was part of Finningley's annual Battle of Britain celebrations.[1][2][3]

Plot[[edit] | [edit source]]

Following an entrance by helicopter,[2] the Doctor participates in a battle with the Daleks.[1][2] The Daleks are ultimately destroyed in an explosion.[2]

Notes[[edit] | [edit source]]

One of the Daleks.
  • Surviving footage from the event was featured in the celebratory documentary 30 Years in the TARDIS, broadcast on BBC One on 29 November 1993. While the clips were being shown, the location was misspelled as Finningly.
  • The Daleks featured at the event were homemade rather than screen-used props.[1][2][3] A homemade TARDIS was also there.[2]
  • This was the second air show William Hartnell had attended in-costume that month, having been present at the International Air Show in Farnborough on 4 September.[1]
