During the Second World War, the coastline of Little Malding was dotted with early warning radar which proved successful at alerting the British to German aircraft and ships. Having acquired a piece of Chronosteel, a group of Nazi soldiers led by Koenig and Miss Wyckham planned to use it in conjunction with their Sieg Transmitter to block this early warning radar, paving the way for a German invasion of Britain. On 7 June 1941, the German fleet was preparing to depart harbours all along the Dutch and Belgian coast when Koenig and Wyckham were thwarted by Clyde Langer and George Woods, who removed the Chronosteel from the transmitter at St Michael's Church.
