Talk:Decayed Master

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Does this warrant merging?[[edit source]]

If this is the Master merely stripped of his Tremas body, does this truly count as a separate incarnation from "UNIT Years"? Memnarc talk to me 01:57, February 29, 2012 (UTC)

Main image[[edit source]]

Okay, so the main image, then. This image is pretty but a T:GTI non-starter — nowhere near cropped-in enough, facing and looking the wrong way. I've replaced it with the best I could come up with under the circumstances, but it's not great. Let's try to find something better.

In terms of setting parameters, I do think, unless a really compelling case otherwise emerges, that we should try to find a shot of Beevers, not Pratt; he's played the part longer, and, in-universe, the Decayed Master spends longer looking like him than like the more skeletal Pratt version. Feel free to add other proposals to this gallery and share thoughts! Scrooge MacDuck 20:35, 9 January 2023 (UTC)

Are there any good images available on Big Finish covers, and would these even be able to be considered? I know he began life on TV but the majority of his material is now in audio form, and I believe it would open up more options if you want to find more Beevers photos? Where possible, we're supposed to use "in-universe" images. That is, from TV or a comic rather than an audio cover. Jack "BtR" Saxon 21:28, 10 January 2023 (UTC)
But we can still use one, if we have to in the case television screenshots are exhausted. However, what we can use without issue are screenshots from Big Finish webcasts (and in an ideal world, trailers) and from the interior artwork of a CD release. 21:35, 10 January 2023 (UTC)

Why "Decayed" and not "Decaying"?[[edit source]]

Hello I was just wondering why the wiki refers to this Master as Decayed when they been referred to by other sources as Decaying? As I understand it, this incarnation is not simply in a decayed form, they are in a constant state of decay, to the point every body they possesses via the Deathworm will slowly degenerating back into this persona, then continuing on until their eventual death if they do nothing to prolong their life. Decaying seems a better fit.

Sorry if I'm just arguing semantics, I was just curious. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Taganular (talk • contribs) .

It's not a name we came up with, is the thing — it's not just a descriptor — it's a name that's actually been used, with capital letters, by Big Finish Productions. Scrooge MacDuck 17:02, 29 July 2023 (UTC)

Should renaming it to Frazzled Master be considered?[[edit source]]

The 2024 Annual refers to him as the Frazzled Master, and I know Decayed Master is an equally canonical name, but since were also considering it (although likely not going through with it) on Saxon Master, I think it should be brought up, if only to explain why to people that have read the annual and are wondering why that nomination is not being used. Every annual and Dr Who reference book is just going to come up with endless new names, and it pains my soul a little. Why can't we just all mutually agree and settle on one? Anyway, for me, no thanks. Decayed is fine as is. — Fractal Doctor @ 18:54, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
Decayed is just fine. Danniesen 19:59, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
What is also annoying @FractalDoctor is how when there is a universally recognised name (such as "War Master") and sources like Terrible Time Lords [+]Loading...["Terrible Time Lords (feature)"] ignores it and makes a brand new name. I like Who having a loose continuity but sometimes it almost feels like writers make contradictions for the sake of it. 20:15, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
Epsilon, for sure. I'd bet that they enjoy it sometimes just to be contrary. It's all part of the fun, but frustrating when you're trying to run a comprehensive Wiki. — Fractal Doctor @ 20:42, 24 December 2023 (UTC)
