Merger

There's a merge tag here but no discussion on the talkpage (although I believe the discussion could be located elsewhere?). Anyway, I agree with the merger here as this is a similar situation to The Doctor (The Shadow in the Mirror)'s information being added to The Doctor (Battlefield)'s page (as it was clear which Doctor was being referenced). The discussion, as mentioned in the merger tag, is to be found at Thread:270437. Essentially, it goes without saying that if The Curse of Fatal Death is valid, then this Doctor and the Rowan Atkinson Doctor are one and the same. The reason they're separate isn't that we have any doubt of who the Tomorrow Window chum is meant to be, but rather that the page Ninth Doctor (The Curse of Fatal Death) is currently invalid, so we can't cover what little information we have about the man in valid sources on that page. It's similar to how there's no one alive who'd argue for Man with a bent nose (The Tomorrow Windows) to remain separate from Minister of Chance if Death Comes to Time and/or the Minister of Chance spin-off series were valid. --Scrooge MacDuck ☎ 11:35, April 27, 2020 (UTC)

Name

As he first appeared in "Who's After Your Cash", wouldn't it be more accurate to call this "Ninth Doctor (Who's After Your Cash)"? It's a lesser known appearance, but according to T:DAB:

Characters are named according to the story (or episode) they first appeared in, even if they appear in subsequent stories for which they are arguably more famous.Tardis Wiki policy

Counter argument:

Both stories were released on the same day, and as this Wiki doesn't differentiate the exact time of release down to the minute — because that would be insane and impossible to be consistent with — so, saying that one was released before the other is incorrect.

Moving this page to Ninth Doctor (Who's After Your Cash) is not only counterintuitive to the readers of this Wiki, who, after all, take precedence, but is a matter of pedantry.

So let's not move this page. Besides, there is a much more pressing TCoFD rename proposal going on, since 2020, so let's focus on that first.

I support the Fatal Death Doctors being moved to their names from the script as is being discussed on the talk page you've linked.

I agree that Who's After Your Cash was released before The Curse of Fatal Death. However, as DrWHOCorrieFan alluded to, Who's After Your Cash is by all accounts a very obscure bit of trivia – this wiki only discovered it two years ago. The fact of the matter is that no one looking for the Doctor from The Curse of Fatal Death is going to use Who's After Your Cash as a search term. Per CzechOut's ruling at Talk:Interference - Book Two (novel)#Merge tag, SEO is the "chief" priority: not Fandom SEO, which can be circumvented by redirects as Cookieboy 2005 noted, but Google SEO, which would punish us mightily for moving Ninth Doctor (The Curse of Fatal Death) to such an obscurer dab term, even if it were technically accurate. For this reason, I believe this proposal to be untenable. (Incidentally, a corollary of this is that the script names proposal is conditional on the pages retaining the (The Curse of Fatal Death) dab term.) – n8 (☎) 13:57, 7 November 2022 (UTC)
