Talk:Rescue (short story)

Ehhh...[[edit source]]

Can we really call this and the characters in it invalid just because it introduces characters from Dimensions in Time? OS25 (talk to me, baby.) 16:54, September 2, 2015 (UTC)

This is a good question, I'm surprised nobody's brought this up here before now but I'm sure it's probably come up in the forums at some point. It certainly seems to pass the Wiki's 4 Rules as far as I can tell; it's a story that was officially released with all due copyright holders' permissions, as far as I can tell it's intended to be set within the DWU (the fact that it sets itself up as a prequel to DiT is entirely irrelevant, if my understanding is right). Would anybody else care to chime in? 88.211.77.22talk to me 13:21, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
IIRC, this story was brought up in the now lost Forum thread about sequels to invalid stories, and it was decided that this story relied too heavily on the context of DiT to be treated as a wholly separate story.
If you have read the story, and it cann standalone without the context of DiT, contacting an admin, such as @Scrooge MacDuck, to ask if he can go about validating it, should be acceptable. 13:31, 24 November 2021 (UTC)
If I might just chime in, I've actually read the story in a scan of the annual and it doesn't seem to me that there's any real connection DiT there other than it happens to feature Cyrian and he meets the Rani at the end. We don't even actually see them meet, he just pops into her TARDIS and it dematerialises. No mention of temporal traps or universal menageries or Coronation Street, just a straightforward thing of introducing Cyrian and then he gets rescued, with no further elaboration on what they do next. So yes, on the basis of my having read the story, I would say that it works perfectly well as a standalone. ElectricFire 169 16:19, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
Doesn't really matter, at any rate; it was validated a while back, possibly with Dimensions in Time [+]Loading...["Dimensions in Time (TV story)"]. Aquanafrahudy 📢 🖊️ 16:36, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
