The Sarah Jane Adventures photo novelisations were a series of prose adaptations of select episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures.
The books carried the BBC logo but were published by Pearson rather than BBC Books. All novelisations were adaptations from series 3 of The Sarah Jane Adventures. They differed from the The Sarah Jane Adventures novelisations by focusing mainly on photographs from the episodes, accompanied by small text descriptions. Although they were based on the episode scripts, they differed significantly from the TV episodes: all left out various key elements of the stories they were adapting, and The Haunted House and Painting Peril told new stories entirely.
The photo novelisations were part of a school reading programme that taught children how to read. All were are suitable for grade 2 students and were written by Trevor Baxendale.
Two years after the release of these photo novelisations, a series of similar Doctor Who photo novelisations were published.
