Major Thessinger was a country land owner in England. In 1872, he invited the Sixth Doctor and Peri Brown to his house in Sussex. He claimed to have fought in the Battle of Inkerman during the Crimean War but the Doctor realised that he was lying as his account of the battle was both inaccurate and glamourised.
