White Peacock

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

The White Peacock was a figure venerated by the Order of the White Peacock.

According to R. W. H. Empson's The Cult of the Peacock Angel, the White Peacock was a bleached and leprous version of the Peacock Angel symbolism of the Yezidi. The Order of the White Peacock revered the stupid and overreaching demiurge against which the Peacock Angel rebelled in Yezidi belief.

Sax Rohmer's 1914-15 story The Devil Doctor included a white peacock gifted to Fu Manchu by a mysterious Chinese figure. In the story, the peacock was stolen by Sir Denis Nayland Smith. (PROSE: The Book of the War) Fu Manchu's son, head of the White Peacock Arms Company, described Rohmer's stories as "generally absurd". (PROSE: The Beasthouse)

A statue of a peacock sat in the front garden of the Peacock House. (PROSE: A Choice of Houses)
