But even that's dubious, because it's more like the King of Scotland had power over England than that James VI was truly the British monarch. There's not an actual "Kingdom of Great Britain", of course, until 1707 and Queen Anne, who was swiftly followed by the Georges and the "modern" family of monarchs.
