It continued to star Sylvester McCoy and Sophie Aldred as the Professor and Ace, close analogues of their BBC characters the Seventh Doctor and Ace.

It was the first of two "Ace Specials" which featured Ace separated from the Professor, who only made cameo appearances due to Sylvester McCoy having other commitments.
