"Lesser species" or "lesser races" was the term used by the Great Houses for all other species. However, as more cultures became time-active, some of the Newblood Houses chose to describe only the non-time-active cultures as "lesser". (PROSE: The Book of the War) The Osirians, who were the closest thing to equals that the Great Houses acknowledged, (AUDIO: Coming to Dust) likewise used the term "lesser species" and excluded the Time Lords from it in turn. (COMIC: Sins of the Father) The Nightweaver once referred to Spratt and Keepsake's vulture as "lesser lifeforms". (COMIC: The Body in Question [+]Loading...["The Body in Question (comic story)"])
When the Ogron Confederation of Planets passed through the Void into N-Space, they attacked the forces of the warring Quarks and the Kroton Imperium in an effort to uphold the Universal Concordat on Peaceful Co-existence by stopping a conflict between "lesser-evolved species". (COMIC: The Lost Dimension)
The Hausanthropic equations defined the evolution of aesthetically-pleasing lesser-species. (PROSE: The Short Briefing Sergeant's Tale)
Even after joining the Faction Paradox, whose human members were theoretically lifted beyond their humanity, (PROSE: The Book of the War) Mullion thought of the originally-human cultists as "lesser people" compared to those of Homeworlder extraction like herself and Auteur. (PROSE: White Canvas)
According to the Gelth ambassador, the Last Great Time War was invisible to "smaller species" yet devastating to "higher forms". (TV: The Unquiet Dead)
In one alternate universe, a Time Lord advised his colleague to keep his composure in front of "the lesser races" as they tried the War Lord and his "cohorts". (AUDIO: Exile)
Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
The Dalek Handbook acknowledges the Sontarans as a Lesser Species as they were unable to take part in the Time War.
