Flashback... was a 21 short story printed in TV Century 21 that contained elements from the Doctor Who universe.
Summary[[edit] | [edit source]]
TV 21 "look[s] back through the files of time" to 13 February 2065. On that day, news comes in to Space City that Steve Zodiac has surrendered Fireball XL5 to the Batmen while TV 21's special correspondent for Marineville reports that tension is mounting as Commander Shore and his men await an attack they feel sure is coming following Stingray's encounter with some Titan Terror Fish. Meanwhile, a masked man in black gaining illegal entry into the Dunwell Atomic Research Station makes the front page. Also, the Space Agency state that the Dalek Emperor has ordered evasive action after Skaro is invaded just hours after the construction of the new Dalek City is finished.
Characters[[edit] | [edit source]]
Worldbuilding[[edit] | [edit source]]
- TV 21 states itself to be "the world's leading newspaper".
- The headlines of 2065 are retrieved from the Century 21 Syndication Time-files.
Story notes[[edit] | [edit source]]
- This story was the fourth in a sub-series of 21 stories which reviewed older in-universe issues of TV 21 and the second of which to crossover with the Doctor Who universe.
- This story marked the first appearance of the Dalek Prime in TV Century 21 since 1967's The Road to Conflict and was also his last appearance or mention in the magazine's original run. In the intervening period, the Prime had made his Doctor Who debut in the television story The Evil of the Daleks.
Continuity[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Once again, TV 21 claim to be "always first with the news". (PROSE: Flashback...)
- The correspondent in Marineville later delivered further reports to TV 21 regarding Titan's attacks. (PROSE: Titan Declares War!) Also, the peril of the Fireball XL5 crew continued to be monitored, (COMIC: The Batmen) as was the Krattorian invasion of Skaro, (COMIC: Power Play, PROSE: Titan Declares War!) and the fate of the trespasser at the Dunwell Atomic Research Station. (COMIC: Mr. Steelman, PROSE: Titan Declares War!)
