Alternate universes

In the Unbound Universe, the Third Doctor was exiled to Earth, as he was in N-Space but only arrived on arrived on 30 June 1997 in Hong Kong, the day the city was to be handed over to China from the British Empire. The Doctor discovered Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart living in the city, who told him of the dark turn Earth had taken since the 1960s without the Doctor to aid against the extra-normal. When the two set out to investigate the crashing of an invisible plane, they came across the Master stuck on Earth since the 1970s. The Doctor and the Master struck a deal to leave Earth together only for the Master to renege on the deal. Having anticipated this, the Doctor double-crossed the Master and left him stranded, instead leaving Earth and 1997 with the Brigadier.
