Earth (Unbound Universe)

From Tardis Wiki, the free Doctor Who reference

Earth was a planet in the Unbound Universe. Like its counterpart in N-Space, it was the home planet of humanity and frequently visited by the Doctor. The Time Lords attempted to exile the Doctor to the planet.

History[[edit] | edit source]

150 years before 1997, a starship crashed in China, being survived by a group of psychic parasites that came to be held in various monasteries across China three years later.

Earth was visited numerous times by the Doctor, whose TARDIS became stuck in the form of a 1960s British police box. On two occasions he encountered Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, one of which involved defending Earth from the Robot Yeti.

During the 1970s, Earth suffered numerous extra-normal incursions and disasters such as one which resulted in the "plastic purges", the failure of Mars Probe 7 leaving a series of "mile-wide craters" across America, Mike Yates travelling back to the era of the Silurians to render them extinct before they could awake in the human era, (AUDIO: Sympathy for the Devil) and the Renegade faction of Daleks. (AUDIO: Masters of War) UNIT, led by Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, defended the planet and had to resort to increasingly desperate methods, such as bombing Surrey. UNIT's many failures led Alistair eventually being driven from the organisation.

The Master became trapped on Earth during the 1970s, having been separated from his TARDIS. When Chairman Mao's actions caused China to lose control of the psychic parasites, the United Nations sent the Master to aid them only for him to defect to China, exploiting the parasites' abilities to create the Ke Le Divisions.

As punishment for his interference, the Doctor was exiled by the Time Lords, arriving in Hong Kong on the eve of its transfer from British to Chinese control in 1997. There he was reunited with Alistair, now running the Little England pub, and encountered the Master who was fleeing China after losing his influence there. The Doctor and Alistair stopped the Master obtaining the last mind parasite so he could still control the Ke Le Divisions and took it to where the Chinese government were destroying the rest, using the explosion to disable inhibitor imposed on the Doctor's TARDIS, enabling the ship to leave Earth. The Master was left trapped in Hong Kong as the Ke Le Divisions, sent to assert Chinese control of the city, went mad without the parasites. (AUDIO: Sympathy for the Devil)

According to one account, the Doctor eventually returned to Hong Kong and became comfortable with his exile. When the Sixth Doctor and Evelyn Smythe accidentally travelled sideways in time to the Unbound Universe, they helped the Doctor stop "an annoying man" from infecting the United Nations with Krynoid pods. The exiled Doctor helped repair the Sixth Doctor's TARDIS by donating his TARDIS' dimensional control. (AUDIO: The 100 Days of the Doctor)
