Disney+ is an American-based online streaming platform owned by Disney.
On 25 October 2022 it was announced that Disney Branded Television had reached a deal with BBC Studios to be the exclusive distributor for new episodes of Doctor Who on Disney+ outside of the UK and Ireland, starting with the episode directly after The Power of the Doctor.[1]
This meant that new episodes would not be broadcast on traditional television (outside the region served by BBC One). This replaced, in part, longtime distribution contracts with BBC America[2] and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.[3]
