The Abyss was the second story in the audio anthology He Who Fights With Monsters, produced by Big Finish Productions. It was written by Robert Valentine and featured Jonathon Carley as the War Doctor, Louise Jameson as Leela and Nicholas Le Prevost as the Barber-Surgeon.
Synopsis
The Doctor journeys towards his target through the ravages of the Time War, the trail leading him back into his own personal history. With the Daleks close behind and the mysterious Barber-Surgeon anticipating his every move, he comes to suspect that this is one mission he won't be coming back from.

- When infiltrating Kaalann on Skaro, the War Doctor is apprehended by Spider Daleks.
- The Council previously recruited the War Master to assassinate the Barber-Surgeon, however lost contact with him and his two handlers.
- The coordinates the War Doctor obtains to the Barber-Surgeon's weapons factory lead him to planet Earth in 10,000 BC.
- The password to open the Archway to the Barber-Surgeon's domain is 'Theta Sigma'.
