Cherry Sunday was the mother of Carla Sunday, and the adoptive grandmother of Ruby Sunday. As noted by herself and the Fifteenth Doctor, her name sounded like that of a "tasty treat".

Biography[[edit] | [edit source]]

Early life[[edit] | [edit source]]

Cherry lived in a flat at 3 Minto Road in London and had a daughter, Carla, who lived in Manchester with her adoptive daughter, Ruby. (TV: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Loading...["The Church on Ruby Road (TV story)"]) Cherry lived through the pandemic and the recession. (PROSE: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Loading...["The Church on Ruby Road (novelisation)"]) She once accused a doctor of trying to murder her.

As Cherry got older, she needed help with day-to-day life, but her family were unable to afford professional care for her and she refused to relocate to the north of England to be with Carla and Ruby, necessitating them to move in with Cherry to take care of her by 2023. Meeting the Doctor[[edit] | [edit source]]

On 24 December 2023, Carla started to foster Lulubelle, whose presence in the flat Cherry said would ruin Christmas with her dirty nappies and crying at night. She was annoyed by Ruby and Carla neglecting to provide her with a cup of tea, having let the last one go cold, and was charmed by the Fifteenth Doctor when he visited, although she initially warned him to keep away because of her distrust of doctors. As Ruby left to join the Doctor in his TARDIS, Cherry was finally supplied with a cup of tea by Carla. (TV: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Loading...["The Church on Ruby Road (TV story)"]) On Christmas Day, she had a cup of tea in the sitting room of the flat, whilst Carla was on phone to a friend about Ruby when the TARDIS landed in the kitchen. (TV: Space Babies [+]Loading...["Space Babies (TV story)"]) She still didn't trust the Doctor when Ruby and Carla went to UNIT HQ, City of London. She asked Mrs Flood for a cup of tea but was ignored. (TV: The Legend of Ruby Sunday [+]Loading...["The Legend of Ruby Sunday (TV story)"]) She was killed by Sutekh, but was later revived. She then met with Ruby's birth mother Louise Miller before watching the TARDIS dematerialise leaving Ruby behind. (TV: Empire of Death [+]Loading...["Empire of Death (TV story)"])

Other realities[[edit] | [edit source]]

Cracked timeline [[edit] | [edit source]]

A cracked timeline was created when a group of Goblins travelled back in time and abducted Ruby Sunday when she was a baby.

By 2023, Cherry Sunday was living in a flat on Minto Road with her daughter, Carla. They were struggling for money, and — at £800 per child — Carla would foster children to boost their income. When asked by the Fifteenth Doctor as to the whereabouts of her granddaughter, Cherry responded that "[they] were never so blessed". Personality[[edit] | [edit source]]

Cherry enjoyed drinking tea, becoming cantankerous the longer she had to wait for a cup. Because her cranky attitude persisted even during Christmastime, Carla cheekily compared her to Ebenezer Scrooge, even giving her a bag of humbugs to cheer her up. When Cherry met the Fifteenth Doctor, she playfully told him to stay away from her, believing the last doctor she saw "tried to murder me", but was equally enamoured by him.
