This day is New Year's Day and the first day of the year on Earth.
- 1966 - The the Doctor's TARDIS departed Trafalgar Square, where it had arrived during the New Year's Eve celebrations. (DW: The Daleks' Master Plan)
- 2000 - The Eighth Doctor departed San Francisco, where he had landed two days before (DW: Doctor Who (1996)), Jack Harkness became the leader of Torchwood Three following the death of Alex Hopkins (TW: Fragments), the Fourth Doctor landed in Paris (IDW: The Forgotten)
- 2005 - A dying Tenth Doctor visited Rose Tyler before she had met him. The Doctor commented that she's "Gonna have a great year" before seeing a vision of Ood Sigma and stumbling back to the TARDIS and regenerating (DW: The End of Time).
