The Black Swan was a pub in Cheldon Bonniface. In the mid-19th century, its landlord was a man named George. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Revelation) In the early 21st century, the pub was owned by Giles and Maria Owen. (PROSE: Not in My Back Yard)
In December 1992, Anthony Rupert Hemmings posed as George in the replica of Cheldon Bonniface created on the Moon by the Timewyrm to trap the Seventh Doctor. Chad Boyle captured Ace while she slept in one of the upstairs rooms, but Hemmings failed to capture the Doctor. After the Timewyrm was defeated, the Doctor and Ace visited the real Black Swan while spending the holidays with Peter and Emily Hutchings. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Revelation)
Because the wedding of Bernice Summerfield and Jason Kane was held in Cheldon Bonniface on 24 April 2010, they and all their wedding party frequented the Black Swan throughout their stay in the village. One night, they even participated in a pub quiz at the Swan. (PROSE: Happy Endings)
In December 2017, the Eighth Doctor visited the Black Swan while spending Christmas in Cheldon Bonniface. (PROSE: Not in My Back Yard)
