Orphan 55 was the third episode of series 12 of Doctor Who, following the two-part premiere Spyfall.
It debuted a new approach to how Earth's future was handled by televised Doctor Who, having the Thirteenth Doctor explicitly spell out that the future was always in motion such that a variety of potential futures for Earth coexisted within the universe, depending on the choices made by the people in the present. It further showcased what could happen to humanity by introducing the Dregs.
