No Hot Ashes was a R&B band that was operated by a group of friends local to the Powell Estate. (PROSE: Meet Rose, Rose) For a period in March 2005, the band was renamed after much delibaration to Bad Wolf, inspired by graffiti seen in a car park on Jordan Street. However, this name did not last as the bandmembers considered it to be bad luck after the 5 March 2005 incident. (PROSE: Rose)

On 5 March 2005, they had a gig at the Brook in Camden, £100 for thirty minutes, and they spent the morning in the kitchen of Mickey Smith's flat coming up with a new name. They met up later a 6pm for a sound check.
In 2022, when Cleo Proctor and Shawna Thompson entered a sandwich shop to get a coffee, they received many telephone calls from the past, one of them being from Sally Salter, asking them if "[knew when] No Hot Ashes [was] playing". (AUDIO: Ghosts)
