A subordinate Dalek distinguished by its red dome supported "a red Dalek leader" of the special Dalek forces during the conflict against the Space Security Service. It was recorded in the Dalek Combat Training Manual compiled by the Time Lords during the Last Great Time War, the Gallifreyans having done "meticulous research" into Dalek history. Characteristics
The subordinate was shaped identically to its contemporaries, the red Dalek leader and the silver Dalek drones, whom were designated by the Time Lords as "Type III" casings. This variant of the Type III casing sported large blue luminosity dischargers and slats but with an enlarged base unit fender matching the Dalek Earthforce. (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual)

Red Top Daleks
- A red-top Dalek appears on the cover of The Doctor Who Monster Book, published November 1975.
- Part of the Denys Fisher Doctor Who action figures was a Dalek with friction-drive wheels, which was silver with a red dome, a large blue eyestalk and blue sensor globes.
- The King Dalek was a "Red Top" Dalek, based on a modified prop kept by Dalek creator Terry Nation,[1] which appeared in War of the Daleks, where it was supported by Silver Dalek Guards who also sported head sections which were coloured completely red along with their weapons platform "arms".
