Cherry Sunday was Carla Sunday's mother and Ruby's adoptive grandmother.

Biography

Cherry lived in a flat at 3 Minto Road in London and had a daughter, Carla, who lived in Manchester with Ruby, her adoptive daughter. As Cherry got older, she needed help with day-to-day life, but her family were unable to afford professional care for her and she refused to move out of her flat, particularly to relocate to the north of England. She also accused a doctor of trying to murder her. In 2023, Carla and Ruby moved in with her and she continued to refuse to move to a ground-floor flat.

On 24 December 2023, Carla started to foster Lulubelle, whose presence in the flat Cherry said would ruin Christmas with her dirty nappies and crying at night. She was annoyed by Ruby and Carla neglecting to provide her with a cup of tea, having let the last one go cold, and was charmed by the Fifteenth Doctor when he visited, although she initially warned him to keep away because of her distrust of doctors. After the Doctor left for the TARDIS, Carla finally supplied her mother with a cup of tea. (TV: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Loading...["The Church on Ruby Road (TV story)"])

Personality

Cherry enjoyed drinking tea. Carla compared her to Ebenezer Scrooge. (TV: The Church on Ruby Road [+]Loading...["The Church on Ruby Road (TV story)"])

Behind the scenes

  • The presence of Heinz Vegan Mayo in the Sundays' fridge could indicate that at least one of the Sundays is vegan. Ruby buying eggs, however, would seem to mean that not all of them are, if any.
