Gemma Griffin was a human who lived in the town of Folkestone. She and her brother Samson met with the Eighth Doctor in a library and had several adventures with him.
Biography
Travels with the Doctor
After meeting the Doctor in the library where Samson worked, Gemma and he followed the Doctor into his TARDIS. The Doctor and the two siblings travelled to several planets, including Porteus and Murgatroyd. They visited the Ice Caves of Shabadabadon, the court of Queen Elizabeth I, prehistoric Earth and Studio 54. (BFA: Terror Firma)
The Doctor once left Gemma and Samson in Vienna in 1816 while he left to investigate a distress call. (BFA: Mary's Story) Having recently acquired the 19th century British author Mary Shelley as a companion, he had intended to retrieve Samson and Gemma and continue their travels. However, he and Mary arrived in Vienna on 11 September 1873, fifty-seven years later than intended. (BFA: The Silver Turk)
