Rumours
- The story arc this year is darkness. Midnight is when it is dark and is the name of a planet. Rose talks about darkness coming to haunt them (in the trailer). The shadows are signs of darkness. The Adipose ship comes at night.
- Davros returns, with the Daleks in this episode, and its prequel. It is also rumored he will be played by Sir Ben Kingsley. However Kingsley has outrightly denied any conversations about playing any part in Doctor Who. It is more likely that Davros will be played by Julian Bleach, who played the Ghostmaker in the Torchwood episode 'From Out of the Rain'. The return of Davros has been confirmed by the mid season trailer that clearly shows a half dalek shell that clearly resembles Davros's wheelchair. There is also a small flashing blue light that is definitely Davros's artificial eye that is implanted on his forehead.
- Davros and/or the Daleks are trapped under the rift at the Medusa Cascade which is the reason that the Doctor sealed it.
- According to The Sun newspaper, a red Dalek will appear at Davros's side.
- Before the Master died he opened the Medusa Cascade and then transfered his soul into his ring which was consequently picked up by Harriet Jones. Harriet now knowing the power of the ring released Davros was forced to become/willingly became a Dalek. (Unlikely, as RTD has said that the Master's ring will not play a part in series 4, appearing in a later series instead. It Wouldn't be the first time RTD has misinformed regarding The Master.)
- The Doctor will have been captured and transported to the Cruciform to help the Daleks win the Time War.
- At least one character will die, as their "journey" comes to an "end". This is likely to be Donna, as Catherine Tate has confirmed that she is leaving at the end of the series. (Highly unlikely as it's thought that Donna Noble will be kept alive, and from footage on Youtube she's in the final couple of scenes.)
- Gwen, Ianto, Rhys or PC Andy could make a cameo appearance. Only Gareth David Lloyd (Ianto) has hinted at a cameo appearance.
- Other characters rumoured to make an appearance are Francine, Tish, Leo, Tom Milligan, Clive, Pete and Jake
- Geoff Noble will make a cameo appearance, in a scene filmed by Howard Attfield for Partners in Crime before he passed away. Russell T. Davies has edited the scene to make it look like Geoff is talking to Donna from beyond the grave.
- The Judoon will appear. (This could defintely happen, as their are videos and pictures on YouTube of someone in a Judoon Costume on set)
- At the end of the episode Martha is married to Tom Milligan, Rose is sent back to the Parallel World or killed (however it is most likely she will survive), Donna is either killed or may even be forced to stay on Earth, Jack Harkness leaves with Martha to go to Torchwood, Mickey starts dating one of the other companions/family member (most likely to be Tish Jones), K-9 goes back to closing the black hole after a small appearance. The Doctor leaves alone.
- At the end of this episode the TARDIS lands in Victorian London. The Doctor steps out and a Cyberman appears with the trademark DELETE!.(Possible as the Christmas special will definitely feature Cybermen)'
- Jenny will return by unknown means.
- The Brigadier, Colonel Mace and Captain Price will return or will feature in the story somehow
- The phrase "The bees are disappearing" is because they are falling into the void
- Dalek Caan remains alive - again being the last Dalek of his species.
- Global Warming is taking an effect in the World, with lots of smoke appearing in Turn Left. This may be why the "bees are disappearing" (This is a global crisis at the moment)
- The Dalek Empire has been restored and that is the reason the planet's are going missing. The Dalek's are taking them.
- The Harriet Jones who appears is the paralell earth one who is president of Great Britain and she sends Rose to our Earth as part of her work for Torchwood.
- The reason that planets are disappearing (Pyrovillia, Adipose Breeding Planet etc.) is because they are falling into the void.
