Fugitive of the Judoon was the fifth episode of series 12 of Doctor Who. It re-introduced the Judoon, and saw the return of Captain Jack Harkness, who had not been seen on televised Doctor Who in just over a decade, since The End of Time in 2010. This was Jack's first appearance on television since Torchwood series 4 ended in 2011, with The Blood Line. Jack also mentions, the The Lone Cyberman, a possible story arc for the series.

This episode also featured the controversial introduction of a woman claiming to also be the Doctor, with her own TARDIS, though neither Doctor can remember living the life of the other. This other Doctor is said to have used a Chameleon Arch to hide on Earth in her "Ruth Clayton" identity. She has a history working for the Time Lords, in an undisclosed capacity, and does not recognise the Thirteenth Doctor's sonic screwdriver. As she and Gat were working for the Time Lords, the Thirteenth Doctor believes them to be from her past though she is unsure of how this is possible.
