Robert Scarratt was a near-renegade War-time agent of the Great Houses. He chose his name to evoke those of the lesser species. (PROSE: "Robert Scarratt" [+]Part of The Book of the War, Loading...{"name":"BOTWRS","namedpart":"Robert Scarratt","1":"The Book of the War (novel)"})

History[[edit] | [edit source]]

Scarratt was one of the first Newblood members of House Xianthellipse, (PROSE: "House Xianthellipse" [+]Part of The Book of the War, Loading...{"namedpart":"House Xianthellipse","1":"The Book of the War (novel)"}) created as part of the biodiverse Fourth Wave of the House Military in the 17th year of the War in Heaven. (PROSE: "The Timeline" [+]Part of The Book of the War, Loading...{"namedpart":"The Timeline","1":"The Book of the War (novel)"}) According to some rumours, he was born of a natural childbirth.

At the age of 20, Scarratt was stationed at a monitoring post near a planet that was supplying Xianthellipse with praxis. He became addicted to praxis. Under the influence of praxis, he single-handedly defused a local uprising, though The Book of the War judged it likely that the official report ignored any native assistance.

Scarratt went through a series of promotions and demotions which eventually resulted in him becoming a Commander. During this time, Scarratt spent a great deal of time travelling through time and space by himself. He claimed to have visited Utterlost and advised both sides in the Vietnam War.

While studying under Georg Hegel at the University of Heidelberg around 1816, Scarratt participated in the infamous student duelling societies and, as a new student, achieved the rare mark of two scars. However, despite his best attempts, the scars healed. The Book of the War, written around the 50th year of the War, (PROSE: "The Timeline" [+]Part of The Book of the War, Loading...{"namedpart":"The Timeline","1":"The Book of the War (novel)"}) noted that according to the latest reports, Scarratt's group had been seen near Ordifica, thought to be a potential access-point for the Yssgaroth, although House sources claimed (PROSE: "Ordifica" [+]Part of The Book of the War, Loading...{"namedpart":"Ordifica","1":"The Book of the War (novel)"}) that he was merely investigating intercreationals. (PROSE: "Intercreationals, Ordifica" [+]Part of The Book of the War, Loading...{"namedpart":"Intercreationals, Ordifica","1":"The Book of the War (novel)"}) Other rumours placed him near the Anvil Stars or in Entarodora's bedchamber. In a potential timeline, Scarratt was the captain of The Brakespeare. He was a replacement for the original captain Tancreevee. (PROSE: The Brakespeare Voyage [+]Loading...["The Brakespeare Voyage (novel)"])

Scarratt once sent a memo to Nybeckarlaxinthelle concerning the activity of the Hussar and the Kraken. (PROSE: Weapons Grade Snake Oil [+]Loading...["Weapons Grade Snake Oil (novel)"])

Though Scarratt's corpse was located in 27th century Vienna, he joined Faction Paradox as Little Brother Ratas de la Cicatriz. (PROSE: Captain Robert Scarratt)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

  • In The Book of the War [+]Loading...["The Book of the War (novel)"] – Scarratt's debut – the alphabetically first entry in which he was mentioned, "Apportation", discussed his role in the Elisabeth Canning case. In the real world, one of the witnesses was a journeyman named Robert Scarrat.[1]
