References
The Doctor
- The Doctor's father was skeptical of his son joining the Academy and becoming a Time Lord.
- Clara has affected the Doctor's timeline since his childhood.
- The Doctor's parents are seen (though partially) for a first time.
- The Twelfth Doctor, upon awaking in the TARDIS, mentions 'Sontarans perverting the course of human history' to Orson Pink, presumably waking from a dream, repeating his first words as the Fourth Doctor. (TV: Robot)
- The "shortest horror story" has been described as "The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock on the door...". It is the opening (and closing) line of the story "Knock", written by Fredric Brown.
- The Doctor in his youth didn't want his brother and the other boys at the House of Lungbarrow to hear him cry, so he sleeps in a barn.
Laws of Time
- Clara breaks the Third Law of time and travels back in time on Gallifrey
Individuals
- Clara says she'd never been to Gloucester.
Story notes
- Clara's encounter with the Doctor as a young boy marks the second time a version of her has met his original incarnation, and the first from his perspective. One of her splinters created after she entered the Doctor's time stream had met the older First Doctor, suggesting which TARDIS to steal as he escaped Gallifrey. (TV: The Name of the Doctor)
