DVP

The DVP was a political party in Weimar Germany. The 'D' stood for Deutschland. As well as the KPD, SPD, NSDAP and Z parties, they fought the elections of July and November 1932. (AUDIO: The Alchemists)

When Adolf Hitler came to power in January 1933 and established the Third Reich, the Nazis denounced democracy, (PROSE: Just War, AUDIO: Just War) and quashed all opposing views. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Exodus)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

The DVP was the German National People's Party, or Deutschnationale Volkspartei (DNVP), a national-conservative party. Initially, their co-operation gave Hitler the majority he needed to gain power. Some of its members were involved in the Valkyrie plot during the Second World War. Unlike the other parties mentioned in The Alchemists, it never reformed after the war.
