KPD
The KPD was a political party in Weimar Germany. The "D" stood for Deutschland. As well as the DVP, SPD, NSDAP and Z parties, they fought the elections of July and November 1932. (AUDIO: The Alchemists)
When Adolf Hitler came to power in January 1933 and established the Third Reich, the Nazis denounced democracy, (PROSE: Just War, AUDIO: Just War) and quashed all opposing views. (PROSE: Timewyrm: Exodus)

The KPD was the Communist Party of Germany, or Kommunistische Partei Deutschlands. After the Second World War, the party reformed in West Germany but was banned again in 1956.
Ernst Thälmann, who is briefly mentioned by surname in The Alchemists and identified as "the workers' candidate" or "an agent of foreign powers", was the leader of the KPD during the period.
The communists which the Nazis are said to be fighting or denouncing in Timewyrm: Exodus, Just War and The Alchemists mostly refer to the KPD.
